Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish follows the Archdiocese of Detroit guidelines and is committed to providing safe environments and fostering continuous improvement in every organization that sponsors activities and/or provides services to children and youth.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADULT VOLUNTEERS

Adult volunteers (age 18 and older) who have contact with children are expected to read each of the following files. All Safe Environments requirements must be met before an adult begins their volunteer or employment position at OLGC.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TEEN-AGED VOLUNTEERS

All youth in grades 9 and up who are paid employees or receive a stipend for work in parishes, schools, and affiliated agencies must meet Safe Environment requirements. Volunteers under age 18 should be paired with an adult or another teen and regularly supervised by an adult. High School Teens must attend a Called to Serve training workshop. Employees or volunteers, age 18 and older, will attend the Protecting God’s Children Workshop and will have a criminal history background check (see instructions for Parish Adult Volunteers). The background certification form and a copy of the Called to Serve certificate must be submitted to the parish (see address above). Failure to participate in the workshop within six (6) months of assignment will result in the loss of employment or volunteer position until that requirement is met.
